Penrith Stadium has reached a significant milestone, with the New South Wales Government now seeking expressions of interest for a partner to revamp the stadium into a premier sporting and entertainment precinct in Sydney’s west.
The proposed enhancements aim to elevate the venue into a premium destination for various forms of entertainment, enriching the overall spectator experience. The upgrades will include an increase in food outlets and amenities, installation of new scoreboards and ribbon boards, advanced sound systems, upgraded lighting, and expanded recreation spaces.
The reconfiguration of the training field situated west of the stadium is also set to provide new high-quality open spaces featuring multipurpose courts and enhanced landscaping, catering to additional outdoor community activities and entertainment events.
As part of the redevelopment plans, the seating capacity of the ground will be boosted to accommodate 25,000 spectators. The grandstands will also undergo a redesign to offer steeper angles, ensuring that fans are in close proximity to the on-field or on-stage action with optimal sight lines.
The revamped Penrith Stadium would not only continue to host men’s NRL matches, it will also support the NRLW competition by providing improved player facilities and change rooms, fostering the growth of female representation in rugby league and other sports.
Community involvement has been instrumental in shaping the future of Penrith Stadium, with residents being encouraged to contribute their feedback on the stadium’s designs once the State Significant Development Application is made available for public review in the upcoming weeks.
The redevelopment will also prioritise inclusivity by offering increased wheelchair-accessible seating by around 500% and wheelchair-accessible toilets by 85%.
The upgrades aim to provide an enhanced experience for fans and locals, allowing for a wider array of sports, live music, and entertainment events in Western Sydney. As Penrith continues to evolve, the revamped Penrith Stadium precinct is set to become a dynamic community hub that caters to sport, entertainment and other major events.
