The Nine Network’s coverage of the Paris 2024 Olympics has been celebrated globally, winning the prestigious Gold Award for Best Olympic Programme and two Bronze Awards at the International Olympic Committee’s Golden Rings Awards. Recognising excellence in broadcasting, these accolades underscore Nine’s ability to captivate nearly 20 million Australians with its comprehensive 24/7 coverage.

Nine’s broadcast delivered remarkable audience engagement, with 14.8 million Australians tuning in during the first four days. Channel 9 and 9Gem accounted for 12.2 million of these viewers, and prime-time slots on Day 3 achieved an impressive 61.6% audience share in the 25-54 demographic and a commanding 67% share in the 16-39 age group across major metropolitan areas.

Nine’s digital platform, 9Now, played a crucial role in extending its reach, contributing an incremental audience increase of nearly 20%. Half of 9Now’s viewers were under 40, highlighting the network’s success in leveraging digital media to connect with a younger demographic and adapt to evolving viewer behaviours.

Among its honours, Nine secured a Bronze Award for Best On-Air Promotion, featuring Tones & I’s rendition of Land Down Under, and another for Best Athlete Profile, spotlighting BMX gold medallist Saya Sakakibara. These achievements highlight the network’s innovative approach to programming and its emphasis on engaging storytelling.

By blending traditional broadcasting with digital innovation, Nine’s Paris 2024 coverage sets a new benchmark for Olympic programming. As it looks ahead to the Brisbane 2032 Games, the network’s ability to maintain this level of excellence will be vital in navigating a competitive and dynamic media landscape.
