The National Football League (NFL) has announced an expansion of its Global Markets Program (GMP), welcoming the Las Vegas Raiders and Seattle Seahawks to join the Philadelphia Eagles and Los Angeles Rams in holding international marketing rights in both Australia and New Zealand.
Initially launched in 2022, the GMP was designed to enhance the NFL’s brand presence and fan engagement internationally.
Commenting on teams obtaining marketing rights for ANZ, NFL Australia & New Zealand general manager, Charlotte Offord, said: “We’re thrilled to have two additional teams as part of the Global Markets Program across both Australia and New Zealand.”
“The Raiders and the Seahawks are two incredible franchises that already have established fanbases in-market. With over eight million NFL fans across the region, we look forward to working with these clubs to create more experiences for fans locally,” she said.
The program enables participating clubs to explore commercial opportunities, organise events, and develop NFL Flag programs, effectively creating a stronger fandom outside the United States.
With this latest expansion, a total of 29 clubs will now engage in the program, representing 21 international markets. This marks an increase from 25 clubs across 19 markets in 2024, reflecting the NFL’s ongoing commitment to global growth and reaching new fans worldwide.
The Raiders and Seahawks have participated in the GMP in earlier seasons and will now further extend their international outreach in 2025.
Australia and New Zealand isn’t the only growing market for the NFL, as several international games will be hosted around the world next season, in addition to one in Melbourne.
Looking ahead, the NFL has confirmed a series of exciting regular season international games for 2025:
This significant expansion and the announcement of international games underline the NFL’s strategy to solidify its presence in global markets and build connections with an ever-growing fan base.
