The nib Newcastle Knights have announced a significant leadership transition prepared for 1 November 2025. Philip Gardner, the current Chief Executive Officer of Wests Group, will officially transfer the management responsibilities of the Knights to Peter Parr.

Peter Parr joined the Knights in 2022 as Director of Football, contributing to a broader senior leadership succession strategy designed for long-term stability. Upon assuming the role of CEO, Parr will be responsible for steering the Club’s strategic direction and operational priorities.

Simultaneously, Chris James will step into the Director of Football position, succeeding Parr effective the same date. Chris joined the Knights in January 2025 as GM Football Operations, playing a crucial role in the long-term succession plan. His extensive football knowledge and leadership skills are expected to maintain and advance the momentum within the Club’s football operations.

Peter and Chris have established a collaborative working relationship since James’ arrival, fostering a reliable foundation that is anticipated to ensure consistency and alignment throughout the impending transition.

These leadership changes exemplify a well-considered succession plan, which has received the backing of the Wests Board of Directors, reinforcing the organisation’s commitment to stable and cohesive leadership across The Wests Group.
