NBL Signs Fourth Consecutive Sponsorship In As Many Weeks

Australia’s National Basketball League (NBL) has just signed its fourth sponsorship deal in as many weeks and there has “never been a more exciting time for basketball in Australia,” according to Chief Commercial Officer, Brad Joyner.

Last seasons record-breaking attendance and broadcast audience has commercial partners lining up to business with the league and Kmart Australia’s new three-year extension falls alongside the recent signing of ALDImobile, Under Armour and Bunnings.

The new agreement will see GAMETIME by Kmart continue for a third consecutive year to deliver wide-ranging community programs to schools across Australia and New Zealand.

More than 100,000 children have participated in the program each year since its inception with NBL players from nine clubs playing a key role in delivering the educational basketball activities.

Kmart Australia’s Head of Community, Kate Thiedeman, said: “We are so proud to be delivering GAMETIME by Kmart to schools across the country for a third year.

“It is a fantastic opportunity to inspire families and children to get active, whilst receiving insightful skills and knowledge from some of the world’s best athletes.

“We look forward to having the program continuing to grow and provide children with a potential pathway to their wellbeing.”

The partnership will also see Kmart continue to deliver on its in-house design credentials by designing a range of NBL styles that expand into men’s, kids and general merchandise.

NBL Chief Commercial Officer, Brad Joyner, said: “We are delighted Kmart has extended its partnership with the NBL.

“Families are a vital part of our fan base and we are thrilled we can deliver them benefits through our Kmart Australia partnership.

“There’s never been a more exciting time for basketball in Australia and New Zealand and we want to continue to grow the game across the community and leave a lasting legacy for generations to come.”

The Hungry Jack’s NBL Season will tip-off on October 3 when Melbourne United plays new crosstown rival South East Melbourne Phoenix in the first-ever ‘Throwdown’ at Melbourne Arena and will be available on SBS VICELAND, SBS On Demand, ESPN and SKY Sport.
