Australia’s top para footballers will compete in Melbourne this December as the city prepares to host the 21st National Para Football Championships from 8–12 December 2025. The event will take place at the Home of the Matildas, marking another major milestone for inclusive sport in Australia.
The Championships will see teams from six Member Federations, Football NSW, Northern NSW Football, Football Queensland, Football South Australia, Football Victoria, and Football West competing for national glory. Football NSW enters the tournament aiming for an incredible 17th consecutive title, while challengers look to break their remarkable winning streak.
Featuring both male and female athletes in a mixed-gender format, the competition stands as a powerful demonstration of football’s inclusivity and community spirit.
Over more than two decades, the National Para Football Championships have played a crucial role in talent identification and player development, serving as a key pathway to the CommBank Pararoos and CommBank ParaMatildas national teams.
A Platform for Talent and Inclusion
Highlighting the tournament’s impact both on and off the field, Football Australia’s Interim CEO, Heather Garriock, said: “Football is a game for everyone, and the National Para Football Championships are a shining example of that.”
“The legacy of this event extends beyond the pitch it inspires the next generation and showcases the power of football to connect communities,” Garriock said.
Garriock added that hosting the event at the Home of the Matildas reinforces the sport’s inclusive values.
“This world-class venue offers our athletes a first-class stage to perform and celebrates the diversity and strength of our football community,” she said.
