Melbourne Stars Principal Partner Optus Commits To Gender Parity With Team Bonuses

The Melbourne Stars have just confirmed that Optus, the clubs Principal Partner, will broaden its partnership with the Stars by delivering gender parity in the finals bonus structure for both the men’s and women’s Stars squads.

Optus will also have equal brand representation across both squad uniforms.

Melbourne Stars WBBL Captain, Elyse Villani, said: “We’re really proud to have a principal partner in Optus who are extremely supportive in helping to grow the WBBL as well as the BBL.

“To have parity across both teams is something that’s really important to the playing group and backs our one club philosophy,” Villani added.

Optus Head of Marketing, Mel Hopkins, said the company was proud to play a leading role in driving equality through sport with the Stars.

“We’re delighted to be able to take this important step in delivering parity in the finals bonuses for the Stars squads.

“We are passionate about driving equality in Australian sport and our relationship with the Stars allows us to continue this good work,” Hopkins said.

“Whether you’re led by Elyse Villani or Glenn Maxwell this season, Optus is committed to levelling the playing field and delivering equal opportunities and reward for elite performance.”

The Stars will open its WBBL|05 campaign against the Hobart Hurricanes on October 19 and 20 at CitiPower Centre.
