Land Rover the ultimate Winner at Bledisloe!
Approximately 70,000 sports fanatics witnessed ‘the kick of a lifetime’ when Chris Mitchell won himself a brand new Land Rover Discovery Sport worth approximately $65,000 on Saturday night.
Chris was one of three selected Land Rover promotion winners who were invited onto the pitch at halftime during the Bledisloe Cup opener at ANZ Stadium. If the contestants could kick the ball into the target located in the boot of the car, they would drive off in it!
As he walked down the tunnel at ANZ Stadium, Chris talked kicking tactics… ‘a cheeky little grubber’ was going to be his strategy. Focused and ready, He took his punt… He drilled the ball along the ground and incredibly, it popped up at exactly the right point and went straight through the target! Boom!
The 70,000 strong crowd erupted with arguably the biggest cheer of the night, as Chris was running around the pitch in celebration!
Land Rover is a proud partner of the Wallabies and Rugby Australia. Their sponsorship is deeper than just their chequebook – Land Rover leverages their investment on and off the field too.
Land Rover’s Marketing, Content and Sponsorship agency, RCKT, created the promotion and also brought in Hive Marketing Group to consult on legals and manage the risk (in case people did actually win the car/s)! It was activated at four home Wallabies games during 2018.
Not only did Land Rover get a stack of entries for the promotion and a deeper social media following, they got hundreds of thousands of people seeing the sparkly car in the flesh in Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney stadiums during winter.
And even though the Wallabies didn’t win, Land Rover will undoubtedly get money-can’t-buy PR and valuable exposure from Chris’s miraculous effort.
