a Liga has become the first European football league to launch its own Twitch stream.

The Spanish league will release a new series of compilations, videos and special programs with players, league ambassadors and symbols every week.

The league has already built a strong following on the Amazon-owned streaming platform through its eLaLiga Santander esports account, however the new Twitch channel will focus on La Liga’s football content.

The content will feature a variety of players made up from current stars in the league, as well as retired La Liga stars and ambassadors.

Spanish giants, Real Madrid, launched their own dedicated channel on twitch in June, on which they streamed all of midfielder Marco Asensio’s matches in a FIFA 20 esports tournament that had more than one million viewers.

The league’s Twitch channel will also air original shows created by La Liga North America – the organisation’s joint venture with Relevent Sports covering the US, Canada and Mexico – at its new studio operation.

La Liga director of digital strategy, Alfredo Bermejo, said the league was excited to take their content to the next level in the future.

“As a global entertainment brand, La Liga is committed to offering the best products in the world,” Bermejo said.

“The official La Liga account on Twitch is an opportunity to take the next step in our content and social media strategy.

“Twitch is a service that allows us to reach new types of audiences and explore new content formats to our global fan base to reach,” he said.

Twitch’s manager of strategic partnerships, Farhan Ahmed, said they were hoping the move from the top tier Spanish League encouraged fans to engage.

“The La Liga approach to this collaboration, which aims to increase fans through unique content, promises to be innovative, engaging, and impactful,” Ahmed said.

“We can’t wait to see them fit into a community of super fans interact and immerse themselves in this content,” he said.
