VR Golf Application, Golf+ has secured investment from some of the biggest names in sports led by venture capital and private equity firm, Breyer Capital.
The sporting names involved include,
- Current world number 1 golfer, Rory McIlroy.
- Former world number 1 golfer, Jordan Spieth.
- Seven-time Super Bowl champion Tom Brady.
- Four-time NBA MVP, Stephen Curry.
- 10-time MLB All-Star, Mike Trout.
- Two-time Masters winner, Ben Crenshaw.
They join Breyer Capital and several other investors in partnering with the Golf+ VR platform.
Golf+ looks to create a golfing experience that removes typical barriers like time restraints, greens fees and weather, allowing users to play anywhere, anytime, while also offering new players a stress-free way to learn, practice and play golf.
In less than one-year, the platform’s users have played over six million rounds.
Commenting on the investment, McIlroy, said: “Golf+ has the potential to bring the game that I love to millions of households worldwide.”
“The platform makes to sport so much more accessible to new audiences while also addictive to experienced green grass golfers.
“This fun, immersive experience brings golf into the virtual era, and I believe it will have a positive impact on the game of golf,” he said.
Breyer Capital founder and CEO, Jim Breyer, added: “Virtual and augmented reality hardware should progress dramatically over the next 5-10 years, and I believe that Golf+ will build upon their market-leading position.”
“From the first moment that I met the Golf+ team, I knew that they ha both the technical expertise and passion for golf to bring the sport into the metaverse,” he said.
The investment follows the launch the DP World Tour’s online etour golf competition.
