Gilchrist joins Fox Sports’, Shane Warne to follow?

AFTER securing a $1.2 billion six-year broadcast rights deal earlier in April, the new partners of Cricket Australia have the tedious task of putting together two new commentary teams.

Fox announced it has already signed Aussie cricket legend Adam Gilchrist to become the face of its cricket coverage leaving channel 7 in a race to secure Warne.

Warne’s has a 20-year relationship with the free-to-air network nine, still has the rights to the 2019 Ashes, World Cup and 2020 T20 World Cup which may see him stay with the network, reportedly charging as much as $7000 a day for his commentary services.

Theoretically Warne could work for both companies, but it’s likely Foxtel and Seven will want exclusivity as they carve out their points of difference to lure audiences.
