Football Australia has confirmed it will host a segment of the FIFA Series 2026™ during the men’s March international window.
The series, which is set to involve four nations in a two-match, double-header format, is strategically positioned as a final domestic tune-up for the CommBank Socceroos before their FIFA World Cup 2026™ campaign.
Emphasising the high-performance necessity of the fixtures ahead of the World Cup finals, Interim Foobtall Australia CEO, Heather Garriock, said: “These matches will play an essential role in preparing the CommBank Socceroos for the upcoming FIFA World Cup 2026™ whilst also strengthening our international competitiveness as a whole.”
“The FIFA Series™ aligns closely with our strategic vision for Australian football as it gives our players exposure to diverse playing styles, creates meaningful international match minutes, and supports our broader ambition to elevate the CommBank Socceroos on the global stage,” Garriock said.
The 2026 edition marks FIFA’s first full-scale implementation of the initiative, which is aligned with the organisation’s Strategic Objectives (2023-2027) to promote competitive balance and cross-confederation opposition.
The format ensures the Socceroos will face two distinct, non-traditional opponents, providing valuable match minutes against diverse playing styles without adding fixtures to the international calendar.
The event offers value for domestic football fans, providing the last chance to see the Socceroos on home soil before the finals tournament.
Furthermore, the double-header structure allows Australian audiences to experience two other international sides competing head-to-head, deepening exposure to global football.
Concurrent with the announcement, Football Australia launched FA+, its new membership program. FA+ is designated as the most direct pathway for fans to secure their place in the ticket ballot for the FIFA World Cup 2026™, simultaneously rewarding members with year-round experiences across Football Australia’s suite of events and brands.
