Formula 1 (F1) has announced a multi-year partnership with streaming service, Coupang Play, to bring an exclusive live broadcast of the championship to South Korean fans.

The deal will see Coupang Play’s over-the-top (OTT) service livestream every race from the F1 season, as the sport continues to see a surge of interest and growth globally.

Commenting on the partnership, F1 head of media rights, Michaella Snoeck, said: “We’re pleased to be entering this new partnership with Coupang Play to ensure that our fans in South Korea can follow all the F1 action.”

“South Korea is a key market for Formula 1 and this deal will help us to continue to grow the sport’s popularity in the region,” she said.

Head of Coupang Play, Stephen Kim, added: “Despite the growing global popularity of F1, it was hard to view the races in Korea.”

“Coupang Play is delighted to offer Formula 1, the world’s best car racing competition to motorsports fans in Korea,” he said.

The livestreaming partnership strengthens F1’s presence throughout Asia, adding to a portfolio of recent broadcast partnerships in India and Japan.

This announcement comes after streaming platform DAZN secured the series’ Japanese broadcasting rights through 2025.
