Brisbane Roar To Play Premier League Teams In Queensland This July

Hyundai A-League’s Brisbane Roar will go head to head with English Premier League clubs Crystal Palace F.C. and West Ham United F.C. in July 2020.

Delivered to Queensland by the Queensland Government via Tourism and Events Queensland in conjunction with TEG Live, City of Townsville and City of Gold Coast, football fans from across Australia and abroad will be able to watch Robbie Fowler’s Roar and the two EPL sides take part in a three-team tournament – EVA Air Queensland Champions Cup – between July 11 and 18.

The competition will see each club play two matches, with games to be played in Townsville, the Gold Coast and at Roar’s home ground in Brisbane, Suncorp Stadium.

“Brisbane Roar prides itself on being a football club for all of Queensland and we are looking forward to playing two exciting fixtures in Townsville and on the Gold Coast in July,” Roar CEO, David Pourre, said.

“It is a unique opportunity for Brisbane to also be hosting a fixture featuring two of England’s most famous clubs.

“We are hoping to see plenty of orange in the stands supporting Queensland’s Hyundai A-League Club against two of England’s finest clubs.”

This will be Crystal Palace’s first-ever trip to Australia, and they open the tournament against Roar in Townsville on July 11.

The Eagles, managed by former England boss Roy Hodgson, are currently 12th in the Premier League and possess stars like Wilfried Zaha, Andros Townsend, Christian Benteke and Gary Cahill.

West Ham’s involvement sees a return to Australia for their coach David Moyes, who came to Sydney when in charge of Manchester United for their clash against the Hyundai A-League All Stars.
