Basketball Australia has announced it has signed a multi-year partnership extension with sporting goods brand, Spalding.
The deal will see Spalding continue as the official basketball and backboard of Basketball Australia and its national teams for the tenth year of the partnership beginning in 2020.
Spalding Australia managing director, Chris Lambert, said the global brand is thrilled to be extending their partnership with Basketball Australia.
“Interest, passion and participation for basketball is at an all-time high, from grassroots right up to the national teams competing so well on the world stage,” Lambert said.
“We are excited to continue our work with Basketball Australia to grow the game throughout the country,” he said.
Basketball Australia’s head of commercial partnership, Glen Towers, said Spalding has a great contribution to basketball in Australia as a long-term strategic partner of Basketball Australia.
“We look forward to working with the Spalding team to continue to grow participation and get a Spalding ball into as many sets of hands as possible,” Towers said.
In addition to the national teams, Spalding will also supply the official game ball of the Chemist Warehouse WNBL, Aussie Hoops and Sporting School participant basketballs, game balls for National Wheelchair League and the Australian Junior Championships as well as basketballs for Basketball Australia’s new Walking Basketball program.
Spalding has been the Official Game Ball of the NBA for over 30 years now, and in Australia for over a decade as the Official Game Ball of Basketball Australia for the Boomers and Opals, as well as the Official Game Ball of Basketball Victoria, Basketball NSW, Basketball WA and Basketball ACT.
