Baseball Australia Announce Jason Pospishil As New Manager For The Emeralds

Baseball New South Wales state baseball operations manager, Jason Pospishil, has been appointed as the new manager for Australia’s women’s national baseball team, the Emeralds.

Baseball Australia has confirmed Pospishil will lead the women’s national team through to the conclusion of the 2020 WBSC Women’s Baseball World Cup.

Pospishil brings vast experience to the role having managed the Sydney Blue Sox in the Australian Baseball League and previously holding a coaching position in the Minnesota Twins organisation.

“It is an honour and a privilege to be named manager of the Emeralds,” Pospishil said.

“Being the leader of a national program brings great responsibility and I can assure everybody that I will treat that responsibility with the utmost respect it deserves.

“It is a very exciting time for women in sport.

“I look forward to playing my part in the growth of female baseball in this country.”

The Emeralds are ranked sixth in the world and finished seventh at the 2018 World Cup in Florida.

Pospishil also has an extensive playing background, having represented Australia at a number of under-age international baseball events, New South Wales in the Claxton Shield and played professionally in the Twins’ organisation.

Baseball Australia baseball operations & participation general manager, Michael Crooks, who oversees women’s baseball development, was excited to have Pospishil lead the Emeralds.

“In a time where player development requires the combination of technical proficiency, data analytics, eye for detail, and the ability to form strong relationships, Jason is uniquely placed to deliver performance outcomes for Team Australia well into the future through the development of a player development framework that will be the envy of women’s baseball around the world,” he said.

Pospishil, who replaces Simone Wearne as manager of the Emeralds, will commence as Emeralds manager immediately.

His role with Baseball NSW remains unchanged.
