Audi has revealed a significant organisational restructure as the company prepares for its entry into Formula 1 in 2026.
As part of the move, Mattia Binotto has expanded his role, now serving as the head of the Audi F1 Project.
Binotto, who joined Audi as chief operating and chief technical officer last year, will oversee development at the Hinwil and Neuburg an der Donau facilities, as well as the soon-to-be-built technical centre in the UK.
This restructuring aims to ensure seamless coordination between race car and powertrain development under his leadership.
Meanwhile, Christian Foyer has been appointed as the new chief operating officer, effective from May 1.
Foyer will focus on enhancing operational processes as Audi moves closer to its Formula 1 debut.
He will also take over responsibilities previously held by Adam Baker, who left the organisation by mutual consent.
Stefan Dreyer, in addition to his position as chief technical officer, will continue overseeing power unit development while also serving as spokesperson for the AFR management board.
In a related development, Jonathan Wheatley, who began began his role as team principal and management board spokesperson at Sauber Motorsport AG in April, will oversee race operations as Sauber transitions to Audi ownership in 2026.
These organisational changes reflect Audi’s commitment to building a strong and efficient structure as it prepares for its Formula 1 debut.
The strategic appointments highlight the importance of operational excellence and leadership in one of the most competitive motorsport arenas.
