Australian sports broadcasts saw significant TV ratings during the week of March 13–16, 2025, with AFL, NRL, and Formula 1 all achieving impressive viewership figures.
Network 10’s coverage of the Formula 1 Louis Vuitton Australian Grand Prix reached 3.6 million viewers across the weekend, marking the biggest audience since 2016, with a 15% year-on-year increase. Digital viewing (BVOD) rose notably, up 97% compared to 2024. Sunday’s race alone attracted 1.72 million viewers nationally, ranking as the #1 sport broadcast that day and achieving a 60.4% commercial share among total viewers, along with high shares in key advertising demographics.
AFL also performed strongly, with Seven’s Thursday night broadcast capturing 1.83 million viewers nationally, ranking as the #1 sport for the evening. AFL viewership remained robust into Friday, attracting 1.703 million viewers nationwide.
The NRL drew solid viewership numbers, with Nine’s Friday Night Live broadcast reaching 1.378 million viewers nationally.
Additionally, the Formula 1 event at Albert Park recorded a record attendance of 465,498 fans across four days, further highlighting the event’s popularity and drawing substantial sponsor interest, according to Paramount Australia.
