Adelaide Crows Reveal Plans For New $65m Headquarters

After almost three decades based at West Lakes, the Adelaide Crows have unveiled plans for a $65 million training and administration base at North Adelaide.

The AFL club presented the designs of their sporting and community hub to Adelaide City Council on Tuesday night.

The proposed development will take place on the Adelaide Parklands and replace the Adelaide Aquatic Centre.

The development will include a new aquatic centre that will be accessible to the public, a community building, and a training and administration centre for the Crows, which will include training grounds available to the public.

No buildings will be higher than two stories and the Crows won’t be applying for a full-time liquor licence for the premises.

After a vigorous discussion lasting more than two hours, the council voted to allow the Crows’ plan to go out for public consultation.

Crows chief executive Andrew Fagan told the council the club was keen to move from its existing West Lakes base.

“We wish to relocate our training and administration from West Lakes to the city of Adelaide, in part to strengthen the connection with the city and the club,” Fagan told the committee hearing.

“Also, we’d like to be more centrally located within metropolitan Adelaide and to enhance the delivery of club and community services and programs, as well as more effectively to engage with our large fan base on a much more frequent basis.”

The Federal Government has already pledged $15 million towards the development.
