Seven Network has secured its twenty-fourth consecutive week as the country’s leading television network following a blockbuster week of broadcasting driven by intense Australian Football League Finals fever and the historic National Football League regular-season match in Melbourne.
Achieving a national total TV audience share of 44.9 per cent between 6:00 pm and midnight, and 45 per cent across the full broadcast day, the commercial free-to-air network capitalised on major live sports properties to capture top market positions across all key demographic metrics, including grocery shoppers and core commercial cohorts aged twenty-five to fifty-four and sixteen to thirty-nine.
Digital streaming platform 7plus also recorded standout commercial performance, claiming first place in broadcast video on demand with a commanding 47.3 per cent commercial share.
The week’s programming schedule was anchored by football action, with AFL Friday Night Football finals reaching an audience of 2.66 million viewers, closely followed by Saturday night’s fixture which attracted 2.5 million viewers.
Meanwhile, the NFL Melbourne regular-season clash between the San Francisco 49ers and Los Angeles Rams drew a national television audience of 938,000 and reached a cumulative 2.19 million viewers, marking the largest-ever broadcast audience for an NFL fixture on the network and demonstrating the immense commercial demand for major international sports content in the local market.
At breakfast, long-running morning program Sunrise maintained its market leadership, outperforming its closest commercial rival by sixty-two per cent in total viewers.
