Olympic operations specialist Luke Pellegrini has announced the launch of Downunder Advantage, a new independent advisory practice designed to assist global sporting organisations and commercial partners in navigating the complexities of the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
Unlike the larger-scale host cities of recent history, Brisbane’s more compact footprint necessitates a specialised understanding of the Australian operating environment.
Pellegrini explains that early planning is the primary driver of high-performance advantage, particularly regarding capacity, venue access, and long-term sustainability trade-offs.
Pellegrini, who has led multiple Olympic campaigns across previous Games cycles, brings a hefty ammount of hands-on experience to the new venture. He notes that the Milan-Cortina 2026 Winter Games currently serve as a real-time case study for why early intervention is critical.
“Watching Milan 2026 unfold, it’s clear how many of the decisions made back in 2020 are only now playing out in real time,” Pellegrini observed, while framing the Games themselves as the “sprint finish of a much longer off-field operation.”
Downunder Advantage will focus on bridging the gap between high-level planning and operational execution. By providing tailored advisory services, the practice aims to help stakeholders secure their footprint within the Australian market well before the 2032 window opens.
The organisation is positioned to serve as a negotiator for international entities looking to translate global Olympic ambitions into local performance.
