Summer Jam 2025: Australia’s Premier Basketball Festival Returns

The Summer Jam basketball festival, now in its 13th year, will return to Melbourne from 7–9 February 2025. Hosted at the Peanut Farm Reserve in St Kilda, the event has grown into Australia’s premier basketball festival, combining high-level streetball competition with cultural and entertainment experiences.

Supported by Jordan Brand and Foot Locker, the festival showcases an array of talent, with top Australian players competing alongside teams from Japan and New Zealand. The event includes a $20,000 prize for the winners of the Men’s and Women’s 5v5 Championship Games.

New additions to the festival include the Creators Cup, where leading content creators will compete, and the U21 Championship, designed to spotlight emerging basketball talent. A National Slam Dunk Contest will also feature, with Australian players participating for a chance to advance to the World Dunk Contest.

Off the court, attendees can expect an immersive cultural experience, featuring live performances from rising hip-hop artists, NBA 2K gaming stations, food trucks, and interactive basketball zones. Other highlights include gym competitions, open-air bars, and personal care pop-ups such as a barbershop and braid bar.

Co-founder Daniel Ella reflected on the festival’s growth.

“What started as a grassroots event has evolved into a celebration and destination of culture, community and basketball – an integral part of our lives that feels like an extension of our family. For us, Summer Jam is more than just a sporting event; it’s about building connections and creating an experience and atmosphere that inspires and unites everyone who takes part,” Ella stated.
