The International Automobile Federation (FIA) has unveiled a three-year partnership with Pirelli, the renowned performance tyre company, designating them as the official tyre partner and tyre supplier for the Grand Touring (GT) World Cup.
Under this agreement, the GT World Cup will feature Pirelli tyres in its competitions spanning 2023 to 2025.
The GT World Cup, an annual contest showcasing grand touring specification (GT3-Spec) cars, is hosted each year at the Macau Guia Circuit in Macau. The upcoming event is scheduled for November 16-19.
Pirelli has maintained a longstanding connection with GT3 racing over the years. They supplied tyres for the inaugural GT World Cup in 2015 and supported the 2018 FIA GT Nations Cup competition, as well as both editions of the FIA Motorsport Games.
“Pirelli brings a wealth of experience from various forms of motorsport, has an established working relationship with the FIA through different disciplines and series, and has a very strong presence in the worldwide GT3 marketplace,” said Marek Nawarecki, the FIA’s senior circuit sport director.
“This is a natural partnership for the FIA GT World Cup that makes sense for a lot of reasons.”
This announcement follows Pirelli’s recent revelation in October, confirming their ongoing role as the global tyre partner for Formula 1, the FIA’s premier single-seater motor racing series.
The extension will last until at least the conclusion of the 2027 season and includes an option for a one-year extension. When this agreement reaches its conclusion, Pirelli will have served as the tyre provider for Formula 1 for a continuous span of 18 years, having initially assumed the role prior to the 2011 season.
