The Chicago Bulls have announced Motorola as their jersey patch partner for the upcoming National Basketball Association (NBA) season, with the intention of extending the deal later on.

As part of the agreement, the Motorola logo will feature on the Bulls’ jersey during season and other signage and marketing opportunities during games.

Additionally, Motorola is already an official global partner and exclusive mobile smartphone partner of the Bulls and are using the expansion of their partnership to capitalise on their local market.

Commenting on the partnership, Motorola North America president, Rudi Kalil, said: “Chicago is the place we’ve called home for many years and the Bulls have been an organization we’ve respected and cheered on throughout that time.”

“Motorola and the Bulls not only share an immense amount of hometown pride, but also a passion for bringing people together through unique consumer experiences. We’re thrilled to bring our two brands together and further infuse our company and versatile product portfolio with the vibrant energy of the city and Chicago Bulls and NBA fans around the world,” he said.

Chicago Bulls president, Michael Reinsdorf, added: “We have worked together in the past, and it is exciting to see us take this significant step into a new, expanded partnership that will have local, national and global reach.”

Elsewhere, PayPal and the Phoenix Suns are in a stand-off over the suspension of Suns owner Robert Sarver.

Sarver was given a one-year suspension for racist and sexist remarks and will be allowed to return to the NBA in late 2023.

However, should Sarver continue to be involved, PayPal will terminate their jersey patch sponsorship, which began in 2018 and worth an approximate US$3 million (AUD$4.5 million) per year .
