UEFA Women’s Champions League Broadcast Free On DAZN And YouTube

ports streaming platform DAZN have made a deal with the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) to broadcast the next four seasons of the UEFA Women’s Champions League (UWCL), globally.

DAZN have also entered an agreement with YouTube, giving fans live and free access to the group stages of the tournament.

Beginning next season, fans will be able to watch all 61 games from the group stage onwards live and on demand on DAZN and for free on the DAZN YouTube channel until 2023.

For the remaining two seasons of the deal, all 61 games will be available live on DAZN with 19 available free on the DAZN YouTube channel.

The deal gives DAZN exclusive, worldwide rights, with the exemption of the Middle East and North Africa, and China and its territories, and marks the first time UEFA have centralised all UWCL games globally.

UEFA chief of women’s football, Nadine Kessler, said; “this deal is a first for women’s football as this partnership between UEFA and DAZN and YouTube will make sure that the UEFA Women’s Champions League can be seen by the fans, by all the people who love the game, wherever they are on the globe.”

“Such visibility changes everything, as the best female players and best women’s teams in the world can inspire more young girls and boys to fall in love with the sport.

“Together we are all bringing women’s football to the world and everyone who will tune in will truly make a difference to something much bigger,” she said.

Announcing the deal with the campaign “We ALL Rise With More Eyes” DAZN states its aim is to “turn more players and teams into household names and inspire the next generation of players, all of which starts with more people around the world watching the game.”

DAZN Group co-CEO, James Rushton, said they are excited to be working with YouTube making it easier for football fans to watch around the world.

“DAZN is thrilled to be the new global broadcaster fro UEFA Women’s Champions League and cannot wait to work with YouTube and Google to bring fans closer to the game and shine a brighter light on its stars than ever before,” Rushton said.

“DAZN was founded with a vision of making premium sports more accessible, and what’s more accessible than centralised rights for the first time and all matches free on YouTube?

“Overnight, this will make the best women’s football easier to watch around the world than ever before.

“Along the way, we look forward to elevating love broadcast production, extending the DAZN content franchises, and unveiling new shows that showcase the breadth and brilliance of women’s football.” he said.

The 2020 UWCL final broke viewership records in France and Germany as French team Olympique Lyonnais claimed their fifth consecutive and overall seventh UWCL title against Germany’s Vfl Wolfsburg.

SportsPro Media report more than 1.7 million people watched the game in France across two channels, while the German audience peaked at 1.28 million.

Olympique Lyonnais star and UWCL All-time top scorer, Ada Hegerberg, said this game-changing partnership would finally give women’s football the exposure its been looking for.

“For years, people have struggled to have access to our games, wherever they are living and now, they have the unique opportunity to watch all over the world of they’d like to,” Hegerberg said.

“The game is opening up to millions, potentially billions, which is unprecedented.

“This is a game-changing partnership that is only right for the biggest club competition in women’s football.

“We are finally being given something we’ve asked for a long time… its about time women’s football got this kind of exposure,” she said.
