Toyota Reveals 2026 GR Supra Supercar Model

Toyota Australia has announced its entry into the Repco Supercars Championship, revealing the final digital renders and GAZOO Racing livery of the 2026 GR Supra Supercar.

The unveiling marks the culmination of an intensive 18-month development cycle, including a specialized aerodynamic mission to the Windshear facility in North Carolina to ensure technical parity with existing rivals, the Chevrolet Camaro and Ford Mustang.

The GR Supra will be campaigned by a six-car fleet in its debut season, led by homologation partner Walkinshaw TWG Racing (two cars) and Brad Jones Racing (four cars).

The racing model features a bespoke 5.2-litre quad-cam V8 engine, based on Toyota’s 2UR-GSE unit, marking a departure from the road-going Supra’s six-cylinder heritage to meet the category’s Gen3 performance regulations.

“Here it is! Introducing our 2026 Repco Supercars Championship title challenger.”

“With Walkinshaw TWG Racing and BJR ready to battle it out on track, we’re gearing up for an unforgettable first season,” Toyota announced via its official social media channels.

QRU Chief Executive David Hanham and Supercars leadership have lauded Toyota’s entry as a landmark moment for the sport’s commercial management.

The addition of the Japanese giant brings the grid to three manufacturers for the first time since 2019.

Strategic Development and Parity Roadmap

The road to the 2026 grid has been defined by a rigorous strategic testing program designed to deliver a “turn-key” competitive package for the incoming manufacturer.

Following extensive laps at Winton and Mount Panorama with a “mule” car, the final aero package was validated in the US to confirm parity across all three body shapes.

The Supra is scheduled for two days of dynamic parity testing at Queensland Raceway on 9–10 February, before a final all-in test day at Sydney Motorsport Park on Wednesday, 18 February.

Defending champion Chaz Mostert and Ryan Wood will lead the charge for Walkinshaw, while Andre Heimgartner, Macauley Jones, and new recruit Cameron Hill have been confirmed for the expanded BJR operation.

The organisation’s competitive debut will take place at the Sydney 500 from 20–22 February 2026, where the five Supras will share a grid with 11 Mustangs and eight Camaros for the first time in a championship points race.
