Sir Jim Ratcliffe Interested In Manchester United Takeover

British chemical engineer and businessman, Sir Jim Ratcliffe, has expressed interest in taking over Manchester United.

The interest comes as owners, the Glazer family, are speculated to be offering a minority stake to US private equity firm, Apollo.

Speaking to The Times, a spokesperson for Ratcliffe said: “If the club is for sale, Jim is definitely a potential buyer.”

“If something like this was possible, we would be interested in talking with a view to long-term ownership.

“This is not about the money that has been spent or not spent.

“Jim is looking at what can be done now and, knowing how important the club is to the city, it feels like the time is right for a reset,” the spokesperson said.

Following a turbulent start to the season, fans also welcomed the world’s richest man, Elon Musk, as a potential buyer for United.

“I’m buying Manchester United ur welcome,” Musk said in a tweet.

To many fans disappointment, Musk later replied to questions saying: “No, this is a long-running joke on Twitter. I’m not buying any sports teams.”

“Standup is my side hustle.”

“Although, if it were any team, it would be Man U. They were my fav team as a kid,” Musk tweeted in conclusion.

Additionally, the Premier League club’s stock rose 15% after Ratcliffe, who missed out on a bid for Chelsea in May, opened the ownership discussions.

A takeover by Ratcliffe would add to his extensive sporting portfolio, with ventures as a Global partner to New Zealand Rugby and owner of French football team Nice.
