The Cronulla Sharks recently announced the launch of the Cronulla Sharks Sport & Business Program, in partnership with SEDA, aimed at creating a unique pathway for school leavers and those looking to transition into a career in the sports industry.

This initiative marks a first for the Sharks, aimed at providing participants with essential hands-on experience, academic growth, and valuable networking opportunities within the sports sector.

Commenting on the launch, Sharks’ head of community and government relations, Vinh Tran, said: “This program is an outstanding opportunity for young sports enthusiasts to kickstart their careers,” Tran mentioned.

CEO of SEDA Group, Nick Hannett, added: “Sport & Business Programs powered by SEDA are created to connect young people with education that fuels their passion.”

“We aim to equip students with the necessary tools and support for their next life chapter, and we’re excited to partner with the Sharks from 2026,” Hannet said.

Designed to meld passion with profession, the program features a comprehensive curriculum that balances practical engagement with theoretical insights.

Participants will immerse themselves in the inner workings of a professional sporting organisation, collaborating with industry experts while leveraging the Sharks’ extensive network for career advancement.

Key Features of the Program Include:

  • Real-World Experience: Participants will engage directly with the Cronulla Sharks organisation, gaining insights into various facets of sports business and operations.
  • Networking Opportunities: They will forge invaluable connections with industry professionals, broadening their network and potentially unlocking future career paths.
  • Academic Development: The program includes routes for further study through partnerships with leading higher education institutions, ensuring participants are prepared for lasting success.
  • Personalised Support: Dedicated teacher support throughout the program will enhance the learning experience, ensuring it is both tailored and engaging.
  • Diverse Career Pathways: Participants can explore a multitude of career options within the sports industry, ranging from marketing and events to operations and administration.
  • International Study Tour: Students will also have the opportunity to take part in International Study Tours, providing behind-the-scenes experiences at leading colleges and sporting organisations (additional costs apply).

An Open Night will take place on Thursday, June 19 at 6pm at Sharks Stadium, offering interested individuals a chance to learn more about the program and ask any questions.
