The South Sydney Rabbitohs, in partnership with TAFE NSW, have officially opened applications for the 2026 intakes of the Rabbitohs Institute of Sports Management, following the outstanding success of its first two student cohorts.
Beginning in February 2026 and July 2026, the program offers an accredited education and training pathway designed to prepare students for leadership and operational roles in the sports industry.
Commenting on the program, Rabbitohs CEO, Blake Solly, said the program is a model for integrating education with elite sport.
“We are incredibly proud of the first two student cohorts already progressing through the program.
“They’ve experienced first-hand what it’s like to work within a professional sporting organisation while gaining nationally recognised qualifications.
“We look forward to welcoming the next group of students who will follow in their footsteps,” Solly said.
Emphasising the real-world impact of the dual diploma program, team leader of Health and Recreation at TAFE NSW, Kim McDonald, added: “The partnership with the Rabbitohs empowers young people with the education, skills, and experience they need to succeed in the sports industry.”
The initiative blends theoretical learning with over 100 hours of hands-on work experience inside one of Australia’s most iconic professional sporting organisations.
Students will undertake classes and training at both the USANA Rabbitohs Centre in Maroubra and the Reg Richardson AO Training and Learning Centre at Redfern Oval, a mix of cutting-edge facilities and historic sporting environments.
Since its launch, the Rabbitohs Institute has seen students complete more than 3,500 hours of practical work experience across the Rabbitohs and partner organisations, offering invaluable exposure to real-world sports management operations.
Graduates will earn two nationally accredited qualifications:
These credentials provide a strong foundation for future university study or direct entry into roles such as sports development officer, program manager, or facility manager.
To further support career development, at least two graduates will be offered full-time positions within the Rabbitohs organisation, with additional opportunities for casual employment during their studies.
Applications are now open at the Rabbitohs Institute website, with information sessions scheduled at Redfern (Oct 11), online (Oct 22 & 29), and Heffron (Nov 7).
