Origin Confirmed as Platinum Partner for Cricket Australia in Three-Year Deal

Cricket Australia has secured a three-year partnership with Origin, making the energy retailer a Platinum Partner for both elite and community levels of the sport. The agreement includes sponsorship of the men’s and women’s national teams, the Big Bash League (BBL), and the Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL).

The partnership’s commitment extends to grassroots cricket through an annual financial contribution to the Australian Cricket Infrastructure Fund. This funding is specifically earmarked to assist local clubs in reducing their energy expenses by installing solar panels, batteries, and energy management solutions.

As part of the deal, the Origin logo will be visible on the playing shirt sleeves for both the Australian men’s and women’s national teams during all three formats of home international matches. Furthermore, the company’s branding will be featured alongside the ‘Power Surge’ mechanism across the BBL and WBBL competitions.

Highlighting the company’s objective to support the sport across all levels, Origin’s CEO, Frank Calabria, said: “We’re looking forward to supporting our men’s and women’s national teams, the family-friendly Big Bash Leagues, and sharing our expertise in energy in a way that delivers meaningful benefits to grassroots clubs, participants and fans.”

He added that the energy solutions for local clubs are designed to help them reduce energy costs, emissions and become more sustainable.

Expressing satisfaction with the scope of the partnership, Cricket Australia’s CEO, Todd Greenberg, added: “We’re delighted to partner with Origin for the next three years and that they will be key supporters of our national teams and the Big Bash Leagues.”

“We’re particularly pleased Origin’s involvement with the game will extend to community cricket with their contribution to the Australian Cricket Infrastructure Fund providing energy solutions and potential savings for local clubs,” Greenberg said.

Australian Men’s Test and ODI captain, Pat Cummins, whose involvement with Cricket for Climate aligns with the initiative, also commented: “This Cricket Australia partnership with Origin will help us take that mission further, bringing clean energy solutions to community cricket right across the country, like our recently announced partnership with Blacktown City Council.”

Additionally, Australian Women’s player, Phoebe Litchfield, welcomed the backing for female cricket: “We’re really grateful Origin is getting behind Australian cricket and especially the women’s national team and the WBBL. It’s great to hear Origin is also backing community cricket clubs and volunteers who nurture the stars of tomorrow.”

The announcement follows the recent launch of the Power Up Play initiative, a collaboration involving Origin, Cricket for Climate, and Blacktown City Council, focused on delivering energy solutions to local clubs.
