Minute Media, the BlackRock- and Goldman Sachs-backed sports media company behind Sports Illustrated, The Players’ Tribune and 90 Minutes, has acquired Indian AI firm VideoVerse in its largest deal to date.
VideoVerse, founded in Mumbai in 2016, specialises in AI-driven tools that enable broadcasters and rights holders to automatically extract highlights, generate content packages and translate video for global audiences.
Its client list includes the Indian Premier League, FIFA+, Nippon TV and Clubber TV. The company, which reported around AUD100 million in revenue and a 35–40% EBITDA margin, was most recently valued between AUD 310–390 million.
For Minute Media, which has raised about AUD $400 million and reaches over 200 million monthly users, the acquisition reflects a strategy of combining content production, AI and distribution to capture more value from the sports media ecosystem.
Minute Media CEO, Asaf Peled, said the acquisition allows the company to integrate VideoVerse’s highlight-generation and content automation with its publisher network and monetisation tools.
“By pairing VideoVerse’s AI suite with our distribution and monetisation infrastructure, we can deliver greater value to partners and rights holders,” Peled said.
VideoVerse’s tools allow broadcasters to automate content delivery in near real-time, including sport-specific packages such as all three-pointers from a particular player, tailored for social platforms.
The acquisition also positions Minute Media to expand into the U.S. market, with Peled confirming plans to target major leagues looking to diversify content formats and maximise engagement across digital platforms.
With nearly 500 publishers already using Minute Media’s B2B distribution platform, the integration of VideoVerse’s AI technology could create new advertising inventory and revenue streams for both the company and its partners.
The deal continues Minute Media’s acquisition-led growth strategy, following earlier purchases of The Players’ Tribune, FanSided, Mental Floss and STN Video.
