Melbourne United (NBL) and Melbourne Victory (A-League) have partnered to deliver a full-day multisports camp targeting secondary school-aged young people from multicultural backgrounds during the April school holidays.
This collaboration, held at Albert Park, featured futsal activities led by Melbourne Victory in the morning, followed by basketball sessions facilitated by Melbourne United in the afternoon.
The initiative underscores a shared commitment from both professional sporting organisations to fostering inclusivity and community connection beyond their competitive seasons.
By pooling resources and expertise, the clubs aimed to provide a positive sporting experience that promotes teamwork, self-assurance, and skill development for participants who might otherwise face barriers to participation.
A key aspect of the program was the elimination of financial hurdles, made possible through contributions to the Melbourne United Foundation and efforts from Melbourne Victory.
This approach highlights a recognition that accessibility, particularly for multicultural and disadvantaged youth, is crucial for effective community engagement.
