LIV Golf and the South Australia Government have confirmed a landmark agreement to keep Adelaide as the exclusive home of LIV Golf in Australia until 2031. The announcement, made in front of thousands of fans at the par 3 No. 12 Watering Hole, was delivered by South Australia Premier Peter Malinauskas, LIV Golf CEO Scott O’Neil, and Australian golf legend Greg Norman.
“This event is the embodiment of what LIV Golf represents: the biggest stars, the best courses, unmatched experiences, and, of course, the best fans in the world,” said O’Neil. “LIV Golf Adelaide is our showcase, and we couldn’t be more thrilled to extend our partnership through 2031.”
As part of the agreement, the Malinauskas Government, in collaboration with the Adelaide City Council, will redevelop the North Adelaide Golf Course into a world-class public facility designed by Greg Norman. This ambitious project will enhance LIV Golf Adelaide’s future growth while making high-quality golf more accessible to the public. The redevelopment includes a new 18-hole Championship Course, a modernised driving range, and practice facilities, all set to elevate Adelaide’s standing as a premier golfing destination.
In just two years, LIV Golf Adelaide has already generated $136 million for South Australia’s economy, drawing thousands of visitors from across the country and internationally. Named World’s Best Golf Event at the World Golf Awards for two consecutive years, the tournament has set a benchmark for delivering world-class golf alongside entertainment, hospitality, and tourism promotion.
In 2024 alone, more than 94,000 fans attended The Grange Golf Club, contributing over 79,000 visitor nights. More than 40% of attendees travelled from outside South Australia, reinforcing the event’s impact on local businesses and tourism. The 2025 edition is expected to surpass these numbers, further solidifying Adelaide’s role in the global golfing calendar.
Premier Malinauskas highlighted the broader significance of LIV Golf’s presence in Adelaide: “This is about much more than just bringing the world’s best golfers to Adelaide – it’s about telling the story of South Australia to a global audience.” With broadcasts reaching nearly 800 million viewers in over 100 territories, South Australia’s exposure is unparalleled.
For Greg Norman, the extension of LIV Golf in Adelaide fulfils a long-held vision. “I’ve dreamed of building a global golf league for 30 years,” Norman said. “LIV Golf Adelaide is the realisation of what LIV Golf can be around the world. I’m honoured to design a world-class course that will benefit current and future generations in Australia.”
Norman’s involvement in designing the redeveloped North Adelaide Golf Course ensures that the city will have a facility capable of hosting future LIV Golf events while serving as a public golfing hub. The project aims to provide year-round access to top-tier golfing experiences, supporting both elite competition and grassroots participation.
LIV Golf Adelaide has attracted some of the biggest names in the sport, with a roster featuring 14 major champions and 28 total major championship wins. The league’s top talents include 2024 LIV Golf Individual Champion Jon Rahm, Ripper GC captain Cameron Smith, Bryson DeChambeau, Brooks Koepka, Phil Mickelson, Dustin Johnson, Sergio Garcia, Joaquin Niemann, and more. Their presence has been instrumental in making LIV Golf Adelaide one of the premier stops on the international golf circuit.
