Formula 1 and the Foxtel Group have officially extended their broadcast partnership in Australia, ensuring that every session of the world’s premier motorsport category remains on Kayo Sports and Foxtel for the 2027 season and beyond.
The multi-year deal guarantees that Australian fans will retain access to every practice, qualifying session, and Grand Prix live and ad-break free.
The extension follows a record-breaking 2025 campaign, which the Foxtel Group confirmed as its most-watched Formula 1 season in history.
Under the new terms, Kayo Sports and Foxtel will continue to offer every race in 4K resolution for premium subscribers, alongside an array of digital enhancements including unique live feeds and the popular “F1 Minis” on-demand highlights.
Commenting on the partnership, chief media rights and broadcast officer at Formula 1, Ian Holmes, said: “We’re delighted to be extending our partnership with the Foxtel Group so that our fans in Australia can continue to enjoy comprehensive coverage.”
“With new regulations, new teams, and new drivers, there’s never been a more exciting time to engage with the sport,” Holmes said.
The agreement maintains the integration of the F1TV app within Foxtel’s set-top boxes, providing a seamless technical experience for the sport’s most dedicated followers. This continuity is a strategic win for the Foxtel Group as it faces increasing competition in the Australian streaming landscape, particularly as Formula 1 experiences a surge in local popularity.
Foxtel Group CEO, Patrick Delany, emphasised the collaborative nature of the relationship, noting that the two organisations are partners in growth. He stated that the extension continues a commitment to growing the sport in Australia and strengthening the connection with fans. Delany also highlighted that because the racing is shown ad-break free, subscribers are guaranteed not to miss a single moment of the on-track action.
The announcement arrives just as the 2026 Formula 1 season prepares to launch at the Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne from March 6 to 8.
This upcoming season is regarded as one of the most significant in the sport’s history, featuring a major overhaul of technical and engine regulations, the introduction of new teams, and refreshed driver lineups across the grid.
While the Foxtel Group holds the exclusive rights for the full season, Network 10 will remain the free-to-air broadcast partner specifically for the Australian Grand Prix.
With the 2027 extension now secured, the Foxtel Group has effectively locked in one of the most valuable properties in international sports broadcasting for the foreseeable future.
