Darren Beltman Elected Volleyball WA President

Volleyball WA has announced the election of Darren Beltman as its new president, following the conclusion of Ian Phipps’ tenure after ten years of service.

Beltman’s appointment is strategically timed to align with the recently launched Strategic Roadmap 2026–2029, with a core focus on strengthening commercial advocacy and partnerships to achieve the ambitious goal of making volleyball a top-tier sport in Western Australia by 2030.

Commenting on his appointment, Beltman, said: “I’m honoured to become the new president of Volleyball WA and look forward to working with our new CEO, Sophie Row, in continuing to grow and elevate volleyball in WA to become a top-tier sport by 2030.”

This objective is directly supported by the new Strategic Roadmap, which is focused on building strong partnerships with Government and Industry while continuing to strengthen grassroots participation and player pathways.

Beltman brings a deep commercial and governance background to the role, having spent over 15 years leading community recreation across Australia before moving into local government with a specialisation in corporate strategy and planning.

His decade-long involvement with the Volleyball WA organisation includes service on the Marketing & Sponsorship Committee and the Board since 2022, providing him with a comprehensive understanding of the organisation’s commercial needs.

The commercial mandate under Beltman is to enhance the sport’s external advocacy, making volleyball a more recognisable and financially viable product for sponsors and government funding.

The organisation’s ability to transition its leadership smoothly, while immediately reinforcing its corporate strategy and vision, provides stability and a clear direction for stakeholders looking to invest in the sport’s future.

The previous president, Ian Phipps, leaves the organisation confident in its future, having served with distinction.
