With three months to go until the Milano Cortina 2026 Olympic Winter Games, the Australian Winter Olympic Team uniform was officially launched today in Canberra.
The backdrop of Parliament House and snowcapped mountains set the stage as curlers Tahli Gill and Dean Hewitt showcased the Sportscraft formal wear, while aerial skiers Abbey Willcox and Reilly Flanagan revealed competition wear and accessories designed by Karbon and XTM.
Sportscraft’s formal uniform draws inspiration from Milan’s fashion culture, featuring a white cable knit sweater and a wool-blend blazer adorned with gold buttons engraved with the Australian coat of arms. Inside the blazer lining are the names of all past Australian Winter Olympians, along with the Olympian Oath — a tribute to tradition and legacy.
For returning Beijing 2022 Olympian and Milano Cortina hopeful, Dean Hewitt, wearing the blazer was a moment of reflection.
“Wearing the Sportscraft uniform is an immense honour – a symbol of excellence, unity and national pride.”
Joining the announcement were Australian winter sport icons Alisa Camplin AM, Steven Bradbury OAM and Zali Steggall MP, collectively responsible for Australia’s first five Winter Olympic medals.
“It’s the first time in 20 years Zali, Steve and I have all been together.”
“There is a strong thread that ties our Winter Olympic community together, and Australians will love watching this fearless, talented Team in February,” they said.
Karbon, a partner of the Australian Winter Olympic Team for 24 years, will supply its largest-ever range of competition and Village wear.
Engineered for extreme performance, the garments prioritise waterproofing, insulation, and versatility to support athletes in harsh alpine environments.
Expressing her enthusiasm, Aerials athlete, Abbey Willcox, said competition performance begins with comfort and warmth.
“The warmth of the ski pants is vital for when we’re waiting to train and compete. Karbon do a phenomenal job providing athletes with that competitive edge.”
Athlete-Designed XTM Performance Accessories
XTM Performance developed its accessories range in collaboration with athletes including Olympic gold medallist Jakara Anthony and snowboarder Valentino Guseli. The range integrates Indigenous artworks by Torres Strait artist David Bosun and Aboriginal artist and Olympian Paul Fleming, whose ‘Walking Together’ design features on the gold podium jacket.
Pride in Craftsmanship and Collaboration
Sportscraft CEO Elisha Hopkinson said the partnership celebrates national identity.
“Supporting these remarkable athletes with designs that honour heritage and embody the modern Australian spirit is more than a privilege – it’s a shared moment of pride.”
Edward Fortey of Karbon described this as the brand’s most extensive Olympic range to date, while XTM CEO Nichol Wylie said the Milano Cortina collection pays tribute to the cultural and competitive history of Australia’s Winter Olympic journey.
