Ashes Ticket Frenzy Hits Sales Record

Record-breaking ticket sales have emerged as a hallmark of the overwhelming interest in the 2025-26 Men’s Ashes series, surpassing previous record sales with more than 220,000 sold on opening day of pre-sale.

The earlier record, which stood strong since the pre-sale for the 2017-18 summer with 111,741 tickets sold in a single day, was broken shortly after the priority pre-sale commenced for the iconic Boxing Day Test at the MCG.

Over 160,000 tickets had been sold across the international season, predominantly for the Ashes Tests, even before sales had begun for the opening Ashes Test at Perth Stadium, Australia’s second-largest venue.

Commenting on the record-breaking sales, Cricket Australia’s chief executive, Todd Greenberg, said: “The record demand for tickets showcases the excitement fans have for the thrilling international season ahead.”

“To surpass our previous ticket sales record even before NSW and WA tickets went on sale is a remarkable achievement and reinforces our position as Australia’s national sport.

“We can’t wait for an unforgettable summer of international cricket,” Greenberg said.

Reports indicate that only single tickets remain for the initial two days of the Gabba Test, with over 30,000 tickets already claimed for the Boxing Day Test alone.

The anticipated high demand has been attributed to the upcoming visits from South Africa and India for white-ball matches, coupled with a multi-format series against India for the women’s teams at the conclusion of the summer.

Throughout the release, demand remained robust as ticket sales launched for matches across the ACT, Queensland, and South Australia. (4pm AEST).
