The Australian Sports Foundation (ASF) today announced that Chief Executive Officer, Sue Hunt AM, will step down from her role on 12 September 2025, after a year of significant contribution to the organisation.

Hunt joined the ASF in September 2024 and has been instrumental in guiding the Foundation through a period of transition. Under her leadership, the ASF launched a new fundraising platform, welcomed a new Chair and several Board members, and initiated a philanthropic engagement strategy designed to further grow fundraising for sport across the country.

Reflecting on her tenure, Hunt, shared: “Sport plays such an important role in the lives of Australians, and it has been a privilege to contribute to the ASF’s mission. I am confident the organisation is in a strong position to continue growing its impact for clubs, athletes and communities across the country.”

Thanking Hunt for her service, ASF Chair Professor, Sarah Kelly OAM, expressed: “Sue has led the ASF through a year of significant change and helped position the Foundation for its next phase of growth. I am grateful for her leadership and contribution, and on behalf of the Board, I wish her the very best in her future endeavours.”

Following Hunt’s departure, Ryan Holloway, currently ASF’s Chief Partnerships Officer, will assume the role of Interim CEO.

Holloway has been with the ASF for nearly nine years, leading its partnership strategy since 2021 and playing a central role in growing its reach and strengthening relationships with clubs, athletes, donors and sporting bodies nationwide.

Commenting on his appointment, Hollowa, said: “It’s a privilege to step into the Interim CEO role and to continue building on the strong foundations the ASF has in place. I look forward to working with our talented team, our Board and our partners to further grow philanthropic support for sport and ensure that all Australians can benefit from the opportunities sport provides.”

During her time with the ASF, Hunt has helped strengthen the Foundation’s reputation as Australia’s most trusted fundraising partner for sport, laying strong foundations ahead of the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

The ASF Board will now begin the process of recruiting a new Chief Executive. In the meantime, the organisation remains focused on its mission to broaden access to sport, grow philanthropic investment, and ensure more Australians experience the lifelong benefits of participation.
