Andrew Liveris AO Appointed Chair of American Australian Association

The American Australian Association (AAA) has announced a leadership transition, appointing globally recognisable business leader Andrew Liveris AO as its new chair, effective last 1 January 2026.

Mr Liveris, a dual-citizen and former chairman and CEO of The Dow Chemical Company, succeeds Craig Chapman, who concludes a distinguished 23-year tenure on the board, including six years as Chair.

Notably, Mr Liveris concurrently serves as the President of the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games Organising Committee.

This dual role creates a powerful bridge between the two nations as Australia prepares for its next home Games.

The AAA is expected to play an important role in facilitating U.S. investment and corporate partnerships for Brisbane 2032, mirroring the successful engagement seen during the lead-up to the LA28 Games.

Commenting on Liveris’ appointment, the AAA, said: “Andrew Liveris AO is a titan of global industry whose career has been defined by the intersection of business, government, and society.”

“His leadership of the Brisbane 2032 Games, combined with his deep roots in both the American and Australian corporate sectors, makes him the ideal architect for the next chapter of our alliance,” they said in a statement.

The appointment comes at an important juncture for the organisation, following recent high-level meetings between Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, and President Donald Trump. Liveris’s elevation is widely viewed as a move to strengthen the economic and industrial ties between the two nations, leveraging his extensive experience advising three U.S. Presidents on manufacturing and industrial policy.

Outgoing chair, Craig Chapman, was recently honoured at the AAA Benefit Dinner in New York for his decades of service, during which the association solidified its position as the premier private-sector body supporting the alliance.
