The UFC has announced a new Australian broadcast structure, effective January 1, 2026, which strategically distributes its live content across three distinct platforms: Paramount+, Foxtel/Kayo (Main Event), and Network 10 (Free-to-Air).
Paramount+ will exclusively stream all UFC Fight Night events and the preliminary cards for numbered UFC Pay-Per-View (PPV) events.
For Paramount, this signals an investment in premium live sports content. Existing subscribers gain substantial value at the current price point (AUD6.99/month), enhancing the service’s appeal against competitors.
In addition, the high-value segment (the main card of numbered UFC events) remains anchored to the established Pay-Per-View structure, exclusively distributed by Foxtel’s Main Event via both traditional Foxtel and the Kayo streaming platform.
This arrangement preserves a vital high-margin revenue stream for both the UFC and the Foxtel Group, capitalising on the established consumer habit for premium events.
The fact that PPV purchases can be made via Kayo without a subscription further ensures accessibility and maintains high transaction volumes.
The third tier, featuring select live events on Network 10 (a free-to-air channel also owned by Paramount’s parent company, Skydance Corporation), is a powerful marketing tool.
This limited free exposure acts as a massive funnel, driving curious or casual viewers toward the subscription tiers on Paramount+ and the high-ticket PPV events.
Foxtel/Kayo: While losing the weekly Fight Night content, Foxtel/Kayo retains control over the highly lucrative PPV main cards, ensuring its relevance to the most passionate fight fans.
Paramount+: This acquisition marks a major coup, instantly elevating Paramount+’s competitive standing by adding a consistent supply of in-demand, live, weekly sports.
UFC: The league achieves maximum market penetration: broad reach via Network 10, consistent subscription revenue via Paramount+, and high margin returns via the Foxtel/Kayo PPV system.
