Melbourne Storm Signs Budget Direct as First-Ever Platinum Partner

Melbourne Storm has secured a major sponsorship agreement with Budget Direct, marking the insurer’s debut as the club’s first and only Platinum Partner.

The deal positions Budget Direct as the Official Insurance Partner of the NRL club and expands its involvement in Victorian sport.

The partnership includes prominent branding on Storm apparel, training balls, and signage, alongside community initiatives and yet-to-be-announced activations that are expected to reflect Budget Direct’s “innovative approach to partnerships.”

While financial details were not disclosed, the introduction of a “Platinum Partner” tier suggests an expansion of Storm’s commercial structure, creating a new premium sponsorship level for future investment.

Commenting on the partnership, Budget Direct’s chief growth officer, Jonathan Kerr, said: “We are incredibly excited to partner with Melbourne Storm in this first and only Platinum Partnership with the Club.”

“This represents an opportunity to support the growth of rugby league in Victoria with one of the most dominant teams in the modern NRL era.

“We’re working closely with Storm to bring something different to the game this season and can’t wait to reveal new initiatives that will capture the attention of fans and the wider sports-loving Victorian public,” Kerr said.

Beyond Commercial Visibility

The partnership also establishes Budget Direct as an Official Community Partner, supporting the delivery of Storm’s grassroots programs in schools and local clubs across Melbourne and regional Victoria.

Melbourne Storm CEO, Justin Rodski, added: “We are delighted to welcome Budget Direct on board as Melbourne Storm’s first Platinum Partner.”

“Budget Direct’s commitment to innovation and continued growth aligns perfectly with our Club’s vision for sustained success.

“We look forward to bringing fresh energy and engaging experiences to our members, fans, and the wider rugby league community throughout Victoria,” Rodski said.

The deal builds on Budget Direct’s recent momentum in brand partnerships, boosting its reputation as Australia’s most awarded insurer, having earned Canstar, Money Magazine, and WeMoney’s 2025 Insurer of the Year titles.
