Cricket Australia has revealed the national teams’ new playing uniforms for the 2025–26 seasons, marking an evolution in partnership with ASICS and a fresh chapter in sporting design that balances cultural storytelling, performance technology and bold branding.
The most visible new element is the large red “W” across the chest of all men’s and women’s kits, reflecting banking giant Westpac’s four-year major sponsorship deal. But the deeper narrative lies in the details.
Renowned Aboriginal artist, Aunty Fiona Clarke, whose celebrated “Walkabout Wickets” design has featured on Australian kits since 2016, has created a new artwork titled “Land & Sea.”
This updated piece incorporates the Walkabout Wickets motif as a tribute to the pioneering 1868 Aboriginal XI, the first Australian cricket team to tour England.
“I am both honoured and proud to have created the artwork for the players’ uniforms.”
“This artwork is about more than a shirt design – it’s about honouring those who came before us, and connecting them with present and future players. The stars symbolise every cricketer, Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal, who continues this shared legacy through the game,” Aunty Fiona said.
For the first time, the Indigenous artwork has been shifted from the side panels to the shoulders of the uniforms. This change was informed by testing at ASICS’ Institute of Sport Sciences in Kobe, Japan, where heat mapping demonstrated that its acti-breeze technology was most effective on the sides, now paired with ergonomic underarm mesh for improved movement and ventilation.
Subtle Feature Across Formats
The Test whites now carry yellow piping around the collar, replacing green, with matching yellow snap buttons and cleaner sleeves. The ODI kit retains its traditional Australian Gold base, contrasted by Clarke’s artwork on the shoulders, while the T20 kits introduce unique collar styles: a grandpa collar for the men’s version and a fold-over design for the women’s.
In a nostalgic touch, the short-format uniforms incorporate side panels inspired by the iconic 2003 ODI World Cup-winning kit, worn by Ricky Ponting’s undefeated team in South Africa. Looking ahead, Australia’s men are expected to wear a version of this uniform at the 2027 ODI World Cup in South Africa, Namibia and Zimbabwe.
With cultural depth, technological innovation, and historical nods woven together, the 2025–26 kits symbolise both evolution and continuity in Cricket Australia, carrying the game’s past, present and future onto the world stage.
