In a significant move for female sport, the Gold Industry Group has committed over $6 million to Netball WA, renewing its long-standing partnership. This new agreement, which spans three years, more than doubles the industry’s previous investment in the state’s netball ecosystem.

The Gold Industry Group, which includes key players such as Northern Star Resources, AngloGold Ashanti Australia, and The Perth Mint, will continue as the Principal Partner of Netball WA and jointly partner with West Coast Fever. This extended partnership aims to strengthen the gold industry’s involvement in community-building and sport development, particularly in regional centres like Kalgoorlie, where netball holds significant cultural value.

Kelly Carter, Chair of the Gold Industry Group, highlighted that netball is the state’s most popular female participation sport and serves as a unifying force for the community. She emphasized the role of the partnership in fostering regional connections, which are vital for the growth of both the sport and the gold industry in WA.

Netball WA Group CEO, Simone Hansen, expressed excitement about the continued support, noting that the partnership has enabled the sport to thrive from grassroots levels to the elite stage. Hansen stressed the shared commitment to inclusivity, aiming to break down barriers and create opportunities for women to succeed both in sport and in the workplace.

This partnership is part of a broader strategy by the gold sector to empower women and promote diversity, aligning with the industry’s commitment to creating pathways for women to thrive in various sectors, including leadership roles.

The $6 million investment will continue to support grassroots netball and the promotion of inclusivity, ensuring that the sport remains accessible to everyone, regardless of background or ability. The partnership between Netball WA and the Gold Industry Group underscores the growing importance of corporate support in advancing female sport and fostering community engagement across the state.
