Federation Square To Become Olympic and Paralympic Live Site

The Victorian Government has announced that Melbourne’s Federation Square will transform into the city’s official Live Site during the upcoming Olympic and Paralympic Games in Paris.

Hoping to replicate the electric atmosphere seen during the 2023 Women’s FIFA World Cup, harnessing fan engagement and excitement to bring significant economic benefits to the city .

The Victorian Government’s Minister for Creative Industries, Colin Brooks hopes that the live site will provide a place for fans of all ages to gather and celebrate together. “Fed Square is Melbourne’s cultural heart and it’s one of the best places in the world for people of all ages and from all backgrounds to gather and share in our historic sporting moments,” said Mr. Brooks.

The influx of fans is expected to boost local businesses, from food vendors to retail outlets, significantly increasing their revenue during the Games.

To manage the large crowds, entry for Matilda’s matches will be ticketed, with temporary fencing and bag checks also in place to ensure a safe environment.

In partnership with the Australian Olympic Committee (AOC), Paralympics Australia (PA), and Channel Nine, the live site will also feature daily screenings from 12 pm to 4 pm with highlights and replays, followed by live broadcasts from 4 pm to 10 pm.
