Wolves have expanded their digital horizon in China through a partnership with Migu, in a move that underscores Wolverhampton Wanderers FC’s commitment to digital growth in China.
This collaboration marks a significant advancement in the club’s efforts to connect with its fanbase across the region by exploring innovative avenues in digital content creation and interactive fan engagement.
Commenting on the partnership, vice chairman and general manager of Migu Video, Li Li, said: “The participation of Wolves enriches the sports content ecosystem of GKer, and we look forward to collaborating with Wolves to explore more cutting-edge interactive formats.”
“Our goal is to provide sports fans with a more vibrant and interactive viewing experience, along with richer content related to Premier League clubs,” Li Li said.
Wolves’ general manager for marketing and commercial growth, Russell Jones, added: “China represents an important market in Wolves’ international strategy,”
“We’re particularly delighted to partner with Migu and to be the first Premier League club to launch an official account on this user-generated content platform.
“This initiative supports our ongoing commitment to developing our Chinese digital content reach and enhancing fan engagement through high-quality content,” Jones mentioned.
Wolves have fostered a strong rapport with Chinese supporters in the past years, evidenced by their participation in the Premier League Asia Trophy and a robust presence on major Chinese social media platforms.
The introduction of the GKer platform is set to enhance this connection, allowing for the production of immersive, locally tailored content that resonates with a digitally savvy audience.
Migu stands as a leading player in the Chinese sports broadcasting landscape, holding rights to various global sporting events, including the Premier League, FIFA World Cup, NBA, and the Olympic Games.
Its GKer platform has swiftly become a central hub for content creators and fans, integrating high-quality intellectual property across sport, entertainment, and culture.
This partnership between Wolves and Migu not only contributes to the club’s ongoing digital expansion in China but also reinforces the increasing importance of tailored, interactive experiences in the sports industry.
As both entities collaborate to push the boundaries of fan engagement, the anticipated outcomes could set a precedent for how international clubs approach their digital strategies in diverse markets.
