World Esport League Proposal Gains Expressions Of Interest From More Than 40 Countries

ore than 40 countries have expressed interest in competing in a proposed new eEsports event, the World eSports League (WSL).

Hosted by Technoblood eSports (TB Esports), who worked on the World Cyber Games, the nations-based competition is said to be held annually for both professional and amateur competitors.

Speaking with Newswire reports, TB Esports president and CEO, Takefumi Morishima, said they are looking to create a safe and unique event.

“The World Esports League is a new global event that aims to grow direct engagement with new audiences in the field of Esports,” Morishima said.

“We will provide joy and new sights to Esports fans around the world thorough a unique and sustainable event,” he said.

The WSL Organising Committee (WSLOC) have also announced the first game titles for the event.

The news comes as the Global Esports Federation (GEF) announce the three hosts cities for the Global Esports Games, which are to be held in Singapore in December of this year.

Held annually, the following tournaments will be hosting in Istanbul and Riyadh in 2022 and 2023 respectively.

In a statement, GEF president, Chris Chan, said there was overwhelming interest in The Global Esports Games, matching the growing popularity of the sport across the globe.

“We have undergone a rigorous selection process,” Chan said.

“Now the work and creativity truly begin as we set the stage for the world’s Esports athletes and players to shine,” he said.
