Hungaroring provides update on circuit upgrades ahead of 2025 Grand Prix

The redevelopment of the Hungaroring is advancing quickly as preparations ramp up for the 2025 Hungarian Grand Prix.

Currently immersed in its second phase, which commenced last July, the project follows closely on the heels of the 2024 race, where over 1,000 workers are diligently engaged on-site each day, driving a turnaround in the facility’s infrastructure.

This vigorous pace of development has set the stage for ticket sales for the revamped sections of the main grandstand, which are expected to commence soon.

Organisers are optimistic about achieving a full capacity crowd for the 40th Hungarian Grand Prix, scheduled for August, as Formula 1 returns to the iconic circuit.

The undertaking is among the largest construction projects in Hungary and aims to elevate the Hungaroring into the nation’s premier event venue and sports facility upon completion.

Significant progress has been made; a primary roof structure now crowns the main grandstand, allowing for ongoing work to cover the area from above while the framework and cladding are being installed from below.

The prefabricated components of the grandstand have reached full completion, with nearly all stair elements in place; only the seating remains to be fitted.

Additionally, structural work for the paddock building wrapped up at the end of February, moving forward with paving work for the basement and first floor.

Notably, the project is also set to see the demolition of the remaining two tower blocks from the original 12 by the end of March.

Although the exterior of the building will appear finished in time for the 2025 Hungarian Grand Prix, it is worth noting that only the pit garages and first floor will be operational as planned, with the media centre and race control operating from temporary facilities.

Once this year’s Grand Prix concludes, work will recommence, ensuring the circuit is fully ready by the time the 2026 Hungarian Grand Prix rolls around.
