Basketball New South Wales (BNSW) has launched a five-year partnership with Wilson Sporting Goods, naming the global brand as the official ball provider for all competitions and events in the state. The agreement, effective January 1, 2025, marks a significant move for BNSW as it transitions from its previous supplier, Spalding, which supported the organisation for over six years.
This partnership positions BNSW to align with Wilson’s reputation for innovation and excellence, strengthening the sport’s development at grassroots and elite levels. Wilson is recognised globally as the official ball provider for prestigious leagues such as the NBA, WNBA, and NCAA, enabling NSW athletes to use the same high-performance equipment as the world’s top players.
The collaboration includes the launch of three Basketball NSW-branded Wilson basketballs, designed to cater to players at various levels of the game. This step reflects a shared commitment to delivering professional-grade experiences and growing basketball participation across the state.
Maria Nordstrom, CEO of BNSW, highlighted the partnership’s strategic importance. “Partnering with Wilson reflects our dedication to providing top-tier equipment and experiences for our basketball community underpinned by a shared purpose, vision, and values,” she said. Nordstrom also extended gratitude to Spalding for its contributions over the years, acknowledging their role in the sport’s growth in NSW.
The partnership goes beyond equipment supply, incorporating development opportunities, promotional initiatives, and rewards to support BNSW’s network of associations. Phillip Watkins, Head of Wilson Sporting Goods – Australia & New Zealand, expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration, emphasising its focus on talent pathways and community engagement.
